FLINT, Michigan — A Flint man has been sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine after images and video of child pornography were found on his laptop at a Houston airport.
William Leroy Ferguson, 56, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Nancy F. Atlas in Houston. The sentence will be followed by a 10-year-term of supervised release, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Texas.
Officials said 32 images and 19 videos of child pornography were found on Ferguson's laptop during a routine customs inspection as he was headed home to Flint on Oct. 1, 2009. He had arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston from a flight that originated in Colombia.
Ferguson's Flint home was searched by federal authorities on Oct. 14, 2009, where officials found an additional 51 images and 188 videos containing child pornography. Some included victims under the age of 12 and portrayed sadistic and masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence, according to officials.
