Families who lost loved ones to violence express anger and grief through art

FLINT, Michigan — The ocean blue picture frame dotted with seashells and aqua stones reminds Teaunna Jones of her baby sister NiYauna who loved going to the beach.

“We know she’s not coming back,” Teaunna, 12, said quietly, holding a photo of her smiling sister in dark braids just the year before the five-year-old was killed in a drive by shooting in Flint.
