Death of infant ruled a homicide, suspect faces child abuse, murder charges

FLINT, Michigan -- A suspect is in custody awaiting arraignment on felony murder and first-degree child abuse charges in the death of 7-month-old Naviah I. Griffin.

Naviah died Oct. 1 after suffering a head injury the day before near Farley and Chambers streets, southeast of downtown Flint, according to the Flint Police Department.  Her death was ruled a homicide by the Genesee County Medical Examiner, and was previously labeled a "suspicious death" by Flint police.

There are no further details available at this time, and the suspect's name will be released after arraignment.
